Is there a fee?

Unless you paid at least 4% in taxes to your previous state, you will be charged a 4% excise tax on the amount you paid for your vehicle. No.

Is proof of liability insurance required?

You must prove financial responsibility in one of four ways:

  • Owner’s policy of liability insurance
  • The bond of a surety company
  • Certificate of Deposit or securities in the amount of $50,000 deposited with the State Treasurer
  • Certificate of Self-Insurance (minimum 26 vehicles)
