What will I need to get a new driver’s license?
- Two proofs of identity, including one proof of Virginia residency
- One proof of legal presence in the U.S.
- One proof of your Social Security number
When do I need to complete my driver’s license change of address?
Within 60 days of becoming a resident.
Do I need to take a driving test?
No, but you’ll have to pass a vision exam.
Is there a fee?
Yes, it’ll be $32.

Where can I register my vehicle?
You’ll need to visit the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles in person as services are not available online.
What will I need to register my vehicle in the State of Virginia?
- Your Application for Title and Registration
- Your out-of-state Certificate of Title
- An accurate odometer statement, OR if the car is over 10 years old, an exemption certificate for the odometer reading
- Proof of address
