June at Updater: Celebrating Successes, B-Days, and Summer!

Summer (and the moving season) has finally arrived in NYC. As we navigate the busiest time of the year, here are a few highlights and successes the Updater Team couldn’t wait to share!

We Attended the NAA Apartmentalize Conference

This past month, Updater attended the 2018 NAA Apartmentalize Conference and Expo in San Diego. With nearly 10,000 attendees, this NAA was one for the record books!

This year, Updater hosted two educational sessions. Our very own Regional Vice President, Greg Toomey spoke alongside Lia Nichole Smith of SatisFacts and ApartmentRatings, and Dana Pate of Matrix Residential, to discuss how their companies reinvented themselves by questioning the status quo. Ash Bell, Updater’s EVP of Real Estate for Updater’s Insurance Division, also lent his expertise by hosting a panel on how to maximize the ROI of service-based amenities. The panel featured Virginia Love of Waterton Residential, Michael DeFrang of Banner Property Management, and Kelley Shannon of Bozzuto Group.

We’d also like to give a big shoutout to Emily, the newest member of the Updater Marketing Team. Emily was an intern with us for a year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to officially welcome her as a full-time Updateer! NAA was her first Updater conference, and she did an amazing job. Thank you for all your hard work, Emily. Welcome aboard!

We Celebrated An Exciting B-Day!

Every birthday is a special birthday at Updater. But once in a great while, we get to celebrate special milestones with members of our team. This year, we were tickled pink to help Liz, one of our amazing Content Marketing Interns, celebrate her 21st birthday! There may or may not have been mimosas.

Our VP of Client Success was Featured on a User Adoption Panel

Our VP of Client Success, Chad Horenfeldt, participated in the User Adoption Expedition panel. The panel was moderated by Rachel Orston, CEO of UserIQ. Other panel participants included: Lauren Pica (Director of Marketing Communications at Outbrain), Marc Johnson (CEO and GM of Bombora), Jesse Brightman (Head of Customer Success at stensul) and Jonathan Bartlett (VP of Product at Contently). It was a fantastic discussion as each panelist gave their individual views regarding user adoption and personal strategies for achieving success.

In addition, this month, Chad was also on Strikedeck. He wrote an incredibly informative article, highlighting 20 Ways to Guarantee That You Will Accelerate Your Career in Customer Service. Curious? We don’t want to give the whole post away, but a few of Chad’s tips include leveraging your strengths, always be learning, and to set the right expectations. You can check out the full post here.

We Featured a Few New (and Old) Employees on Our Blog

At Updater, we take a ton of pride in our employees. This is why we love featuring each and every employee in a personal Q&A on our Updater Life blog. With our amazing team of Content Marketing Interns this summer, we’ve been able to publish nine Q&As! We are thrilled to introduce you to Richard Garvey, Zebin Sakeeb, Greg Toomey, Thomas Crescenzi, Ashley Jucha, Ankit Shah, Angela Medina, Daniel Weaver, and B Yu!

Our Head of Marketing Named to Marketing Hall of Femme

Each year, DMN — a leading provider of marketing news and content — names a group of talented marketers to their DMN Marketing Hall of Femme. This year, Updater’s Head of Marketing and long-time employee, Jenna Weinerman, was named to the 2018 group of marketing extraordinaires. Congrats, Jenna!

We Recognized a New Addition to Our Insurance Team

This month we’re excited to recognize a new position for a very old friend. Ash Bell, long-time Updater employee and former Executive Director of Property Management at Updater has stepped into a new role as EVP of Updater’s Insurance Division. Going forward, Ash will focus on bringing Updater’s innovative insurance solutions to top property management and student housing companies. You can view the official announcement of Ash’s new position here.

We Were Featured in Built In NYC!

Last, but definitely not least, we’re thrilled to share a very special Updater spotlight on the Built In NYC blog. We’re incredibly proud of our engineering team and are excited about their well-deserved close-up! You can check out a few of the best pics below and read the full feature here.
