Introducing Product Marketing at Updater
As Updater’s growth continues, we’re building out our Product Marketing team under Chief Marketing Officer, Jeffrey Gerson. We believe that product marketing managers play key strategic roles as thought partners to product and business leaders — and we’re thrilled to welcome Mālik Mbaye and Dan Custer as our first pioneering PMMs building out our foundation and processes as Updater scales.
Mālik joins Updater after serving as a product marketing lead for two of Facebook’s critical offerings: Messenger and Marketplace. He drove foundational research and development of new products and led several campaigns and launches at Facebook, including the global launch of Messenger’s products to over 100 countries. He has a diverse background that combines both startup and agency experience.
He brings with him a passion for service and empowerment, and he’s looking forward to growing the Updater brand and helping our movers feel at home faster.
In his most recent role, Dan led marketing initiatives across IMDb’s non-endemic business portfolio inside Amazon, driving the growth and engagement of their video product in addition to their full suite of ad products. He also previously led integrated marketing for the USA and SYFY channel brands at NBCUniversal.
Dan’s passion for user experience is greatly influenced by his early career as a graphic designer and his extensive work with the editorial teams at NBCUniversal and IMDb. He’s most excited by engaging with consumers through expert design and rich, meaningful content.
