A written request to cancel the registration (including receipt request)
Do I need to return my license plates?
Yes. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to save them for the grandkids. When you return your plates, make sure to remove their frames and fasteners; the DMV will not accept a vehicle plate with anything still attached.
