Dang nab it! To implement an Indiana DMV change of address, you have to visit a license branch. While you’re there, you can request a replacement driver’s license.

What will I need to change my address?

You’ll need two computer-generated documents with your change of address (Think a bill from a utility or credit card company, a bank statement, a pre-printed pay stub, etc). You can find a list of approved documents here.

What will I need to get a replacement driver’s license?

  • Your old driver’s license
  • Your Social Security card
  • Your birth certificate
  • Two documents that prove your new address (Examples: cable bill, electric bill, or employment pay stub)

When do I need to complete my driver’s license change of address?

If you’ve already completed your Indiana DMV change of address in person, you can order a replacement online on the MyBMV website. You can complete your change of address in person at the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

  • Something to identify your car, like the license plate number or vehicle identification number

We hate to say it, but to change your address you’ll need to visit the Bureau of Motor Vehicles in person. Unfortunately, services are not available online.

What will I need?

  • Your old license
  • Your Social Security card
  • Your birth certificate or passport (note: if your name is different on your license and birth certificate, you’ll need proof of name change.)
  • Two things that prove your residency (Examples: pay stub, bill statement)

When do I need to get a new driver’s license?

Act fast—you’ll need to visit the Indiana Department of Motor Vehicle office within 60 days of your move.

Do I need to take a driving test?

You’ll need to take a written knowledge exam, so read up on the specific Indiana laws. You also need to pass a vision exam.

Is there a fee?

Ah, the age-old question. A very nice lady at the DMV told us it will be $17.50
