Introducing freight elevator reservations

A study carried out by IBM showed that the annual cumulative time that workers spent waiting for an elevator in New York City added up to over 16 years, with the wait times for apartment communities not much better. In high-volume communities, elevators are frequently in use, making it nearly impossible to use main elevators as a way of transporting large bulky furniture, boxes, and other moving items to your apartment. As a solution, many communities offer residents access to a freight elevator on moving day.

Freight elevators are generally found in the back of apartment communities, allowing residents a separate entrance and exit to reduce hallway traffic jams. Freight elevators, like loading docks, are limited and a reservation is a vital step to ensuring residents can physically move their belongings into or out of a community.

For those reasons, we’re pleased to launch a new feature that allows future residents to schedule their preferred days and time blocks for freight elevator use within a community. Freight Elevator gives you:

  • A flexible solution – Link out to your calendar of choice i.e. Google, Outlook, Yahoo, and more.
  • Less manual scheduling – Residents can send their preferred times for leasing teams to review.
  • Stay in the driver’s seat – Leasing teams review scheduling requests with the option to approve or deny on their terms.
  • Clear instructions for residents – Add custom instructions to this step to let residents know where to go to reserve a freight elevator and whether a COI is required.

A streamlined freight elevator scheduling process will reduce confusion for residents and keep things moving for leasing teams.
