May in Review: A Celebration of National Moving Month

Spring is springing, so it’s officially the most wonderful time of the year: National Moving Month! This means it’s the kickoff of the moving season, and for Updater, that’s especially exciting. May was a productive month for Updater: in addition to hitting many milestones, we bonded over a few days of all-team brainstorms, celebrated with happy hours, and participated in a few leading industry events.

Our remote team visited NYC

Three times a year, our team is lucky enough to come together (remote employees included) for a few days of of strategizing, bonding, and – of course – a lot of fun!

We took our out-of-towners to the Metropolitan Museum of Art! After booking a scavenger hunt through Museum Hack, we set off for an afternoon of running around looking for team member doppelgangers, centaurs, and posing for music video album covers all over the museum.

We made new friends at industry conferences

There were two big conferences that our team attended in May: AIM & ERC.

Our founder & CEO, David Greenberg, spoke at the Worldwide ERC America’s Mobility Conference about innovation within the mobility industry: an opportunity for mobility teams nationwide to learn about how Updater can improve their relocation processes and discuss challenges the mobility industry faces, particularly when it comes to the household goods driver shortage and measuring the ROI of mobility programs.

A few of our team members also attended the Apartment Internet Marketing Conference in Huntington Beach, during which they visited with our clients and sat in on sessions about the ways in which digital storytelling and Artificial Intelligence are used in apartment marketing. The future is now, people.

We celebrated some BIG things

Updater won a Bronze Stevie’s Award for the most innovative company of the year for the third year in a row! This year, Updater was nominated in the Most Innovative Technology Company of the Year category. We promise to never stop innovating!

Our team also got together for happy hour at Boat Basin Cafe in honor of Mike Clarner’s big birthday, and enjoyed some snacks and drinks by the waterfront.

In addition to celebrating awards and birthdays, we held our biannual Intern Appreciation Night, celebrating the achievements of our undergraduate interns. They work HARD throughout the semester, so we thanked them with a Mets vs. Giants game at Citi Field. Speaking of interns, our Spring 2017 interns put together a very cool “Meet the Interns” video to help recruit new interns in the future. To be released shortly!

And, finally, we welcomed 4 new team members to Updater and the new summer interns kicked off their session!
