Meet Our Interns: Claire Cahill, Content and SEO Intern

Meet Claire, our former Content and SEO Intern with a worldly collegiate background, even though she’s originally from just across the river. Learn more about her summer at Updater below!

What’s your school, major, and year?

Colby College, English, and the class of 2020

Where are you from?

Stockton, NJ

What do you think is the most interesting thing about you?

I’ve lived in three different countries for each of the three years I’ve been in college. Freshman year: Spain. Sophomore year: USA. Junior year: Scotland.

How is your Updater internship different from other experiences you’ve had?

Even though interns aren’t full-time employees, we’re treated like them from day one. Working for a company that values your time and energy makes all the difference. I really appreciated the level of responsibility I was given at Updater. It definitely allowed me to learn more than I have at any previous internship!

What will you miss most about Updater?

Updater’s dynamic, collaborative atmosphere will definitely be missed. I’ve interned at companies where different teams are really insular and keep to themselves. At Updater, I loved how everyone’s always cheering one another on. Whether you’re on engineering or client success, Updater truly is one big family (as cheesy as that may sound).

What is your advice for future Updater interns?

Ask questions and try to learn as much as you can about the company early on. Understanding how Updater functions will better equip you to tackle any tasks sent your way.

What is the best thing about interning at Updater?

The snack wall! In all seriousness though, the way that interns are treated is the best thing about interning at Updater. From career chats to intern appreciation day, it’s evident that a ton of effort is put into making sure the program is the best it can be.

What is the most important thing you learned all summer? (Work related or not!)

It was super neat to learn about the process of building a company from the ground up. Prior to my experience at Updater, I didn’t truly understand what goes into launching a startup. I now have a newfound appreciation for the efforts needed to transform an idea for a company into a reality.

Last but not least, what is your favorite Updater memory?

Updater’s birthday party stands out as a memorable experience. Since this was early on in my internship, it was really assuring that previous interns returned to celebrate — speaking volumes about the success of the internship program. The party was also a great way to meet new people and chat with coworkers in a more relaxed environment.
