Updater reminders skyrocket resident task completion for move-ins

What’s the biggest stress for an assistant community manager? For Juana Erika Velasquez, who manages Reserve at Chino Hills, it’s waiting on residents to complete move-in paperwork and submit necessary information. It takes up the majority of her time — by a long shot — and it delays the move-in process for residents.

Juana, who manages Reserve at Chino Hills, a Decron community of apartments and townhomes in California, says, “The most difficult part of move-ins has been collecting information needed from new residents,” adding that before using Updater Pro | Onboarding, managing move-ins took approximately 25 hours per week.

With Updater, her workload — and that hefty 25/hr per week time commitment — has decreased significantly.

“After using Updater, the move-ins have been a lot quicker, because new residents receive notifications from Updater, asking them to upload information they need to complete the move-in,” she says of how the app keeps residents on-task amidst a sea of other moving day responsibilities.

Juana has been using Updater at her community for over a year, and she says it’s been indispensable for creating quick, smooth task completions with residents — but also for super organized move-ins.

Her favorite organizational tool within Updater? Its move-in cost sheet, which provides new residents with an accurate estimate of what residents can expect to budget for move-ins.

“When I first started Using updater, I was impressed with the move-in calculator. I have [since] successfully supported a same-day move-in, and the calculator helped make it quick and easy to create the total move-in cost sheet for this new resident,” said Juana.

But has the game-changing efficiency of Updater contributed to resident renewal?

Stats say that residents satisfied at move-in are 59% more likely to renew their leases (KingsleySurveys, 2018) — and Juana is connecting the dots from satisfied Chino Hills residents to Updater. Since using Updater, Juana says, “I have been experiencing that our renewal has increased every month.”

With Updater proving to be such a significant tool in assisting residents and managers, Juana is confident that its first year serving Chino Hill is simply the first of many more.
