Addressing a key challenge: last-minute cancellations

How BRG Apartments significantly reduced cancellations
In 2023, Kendra and her team faced a rising issue: last-minute cancellations. “I had one site averaging 10 last-minute cancellations a month,” Kendra recalls. With such frequent cancellations, pre-leasing efforts suffered, leading to occupancy challenges and potential revenue loss. To address this, BRG Apartments turned to Updater, a move-in technology that streamlined communication and task management for new residents.
This change was transformative. “Since adding Updater, we’re averaging just 2 to 3 cancellations a month, and they are not as last-minute,” Kendra notes. The ability to track resident engagement during the move-in process allowed her team to identify potential cancellations early, giving them a chance to re-lease units before they became vacant. This proactive approach helped maintain occupancy rates and reduced the financial impact of move-out gaps.
