A New Day for Design at Updater

We’re excited to welcome three new senior design leaders to Updater. Together with Chief Product Officer, Josh Abrams, design directors Elaine Meese, Ulrik Hogrebe, and Leigh Cohen are helping to lay the foundation for a human-centric approach that turns some of moving’s toughest challenges into giant opportunities for innovation.

Elaine Meese

In her most recent role at Flexport, Elaine and her team of designers sought to disrupt the complex world of global trade with innovative design solutions. She previously crafted experiences in agriculture-tech enabling remote field monitoring for farmers and financial-tech supporting informed investments through enlightening wealth management interactions.

At Updater, she’s coupling her drive for understanding thorny human problems with her love of building and mentoring teams to set a vision for the future mover experience.

Ulrik Hogrebe

A design powerhouse whose career has taken him from top agencies like Frog and R/GA to stellar in-house teams, Ulrik has made a career of careful consideration to product design excellence and craft. Amongst his publicly available work, Ulrik and his teams led the design of BBC News and The World Service’s responsive web interface, and also oversaw the creation and roll-out of WeWork’s unified design system and several consumer-facing launches.

As a member of our team, Ulrik focuses on elevating the UI and UX of Updater’s various products, and helps set the vision for new offerings in development.

He also continues to serve as faculty at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design, where he teaches students to design better and more inclusive futures.

Leigh Cohen

Leigh Cohen joins Updater after nearly a decade of leadership at IDEO where she led multidisciplinary design teams in search of ways to create a disproportionate and positive impact in the world. From partnering with American Express to design its ‘Pay It Plan It’ features to developing player-first experiences that promote healthy sleep behaviors for elite athletes, she found insightful solutions by digging deep into people’s stories and needs.

Leigh brings to Updater her human-centric design approach to deeply understand the behaviors, motivations, and mindsets of movers and inspire new ideas that solve the complex challenges hidden within the moving journey.
