September at Updater: Fighting Hunger, Off-Site Fun, and An Award-Winning Workplace!

Exciting opportunities and busy work days came knocking on Updater’s door this month, and you bet our team answered! With unstoppable momentum and teamwork, we tackled our offsite meetings, turned miles into meals for Move For Hunger, and were named one of Crain’s 2018 Best Places to Work in NYC. September was certainly a month to remember! Here’s a rundown of all the standout events, celebrations, and successes that came with them.

We Were Named One of Crain’s 2018 Best Places to Work in NYC!

After surveying more than 20,000 employees from companies across a variety of industries, Crain’s finally announced the top 100 “Best Places to Work” in NYC – and we’re thrilled to announce that we’re one of them! We take great pride in our commitment to creating an empowering work environment and strong company culture, so nothing beats the feeling of being recognized by our own team and by our peer companies for it. A hearty congratulations to our fellow winners and shout out to our outstanding People & Marketing Teams for making the magic happen every day – winning this award wouldn’t be possible without you! We Attended Some Awesome Events

Two of our team members – Michael Negron and Wade McGown – spent a week in Las Vegas for The 14th annual Trinity Leadership Conference. One of our exceptional clients, Trinity Property Consultants, hosts this conference every year, and we’re one of the lucky vendors chosen to attend. The conference was chock-full of motivational speakers, new initiatives, and round-table discussions. Michael and Wade loved chatting with the folks at Trinity on all things Updater – from giving impromptu trainings, to helping set up manager dashboard accounts, to hitting the photobooth at the cocktail party, they had an absolute blast. Thanks for having us, Trinity!

A week later, Bryan Vanhooydonk and Jarrett Sidaway made their way to Chicago for the Apartment All Stars Conference. This conference provides top quality education for apartment industry professionals through sessions led by brilliant speakers. We were impressed with the cutting-edge ideas that were brought to the stage during the full day seminar and loved the innovative conversations that followed. We’re always looking to expand our industry knowledge, and Apartment All Stars did not disappoint!

We Celebrated Positive Thinking Day

On September 13th, we amped up the self-love by celebrating Positive Thinking Day. Our people experience coordinator, Ricki, posted notes of positivity and encouragement all over our NYC offices to give us an extra boost of motivation and confidence. From the bathroom to the kitchen to the flower pots, you could spot these lovely notes on every nook and cranny of our space. Our team loved them so much that they requested to keep them up all year long. Thank you, Ricki, for your thoughtfulness and dedication to all aspects of our well-being. Positive thinking day = every day!

We Hosted Another Successful Offsite

This month, the entire company gathered in NYC for our final off-site of the year – and what an off-site it was! Three times a year, we set aside two full days to step away from our desks in order to align our goals, celebrate our successes, and brainstorm for the future. After a long day’s work, we always make sure to unwind with a special activity. This year, we met up at incredible restaurants for group dinners and had a massive scavenger hunt around NYC! It was great to bond with team members across all divisions and get excited about what’s to come. Check out the photos below!

We Participated in the Tunnel to Towers Race on Team Move For Hunger!

For the third year in a row, we ran the Tunnel to Towers 5k Race on Team Move For Hunger. Not only did we honor our nation’s bravest heroes and their families, but we also fundraised for Move For Hunger – a non-profit that teams up with moving companies across North America to pick up unopened, unwanted food from those who are moving and deliver it to local food banks. This year, a total of 17 Updater members participated and raised over $6,000 for these incredible organizations. It was a memorable day that left our hearts so full!

That’s all for now! Make sure to check back next month to see what we’re up to. In the meantime, stay connected with us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
